oh oh obama...

...sorry, the color looks like shit...how are people getting their colors to stay after uploading to blogger?...anyway...this is not a great political shot, but has a lesson...is it a lesson...i dunno...the story: i have never been to an event that has held photographers in such a small, shitty place as this obama rally...only the touring press was allowed to enter the 'buffer' area between the fans (yea, it was a rock show) and stage...the other photographers (AKA pond scum) were given a spot maybe 50 feet back from the stage that had a crowd of people in front of us and hardly any spots to get up high and shoot over their heads (that space was for TV crews)...has security gone up for barack now that he's gonna be the next prez, or was it just a dumb place...anyway...i was pissed...i began working it...i talked to security, they dropped a name, i took that name to another person that was called in when i made a fuss, i dropped her name when i met another guy and his name to the next lady...after a good number of name drops, a few exaggerations, and hefty amount of bullshit, obama was on, and i convinced the top woman to let me through secret service and a bunch of gates to shoot in the buffer area for a few minutes...the traveling press looked pissed that some kid got in to shoot with the likes of them...well, shit, mr. washington post and mrs. getty images...now our paper at least has this to run instead of a far away shot of obama in front of a bunch of fans that were on stage with him, holdin' up signs...yea, i likes my images clean...so, never give up...never ever...get in where you want to be...if somebody tell you that you have to be somewhere, make it your mission to prove them wrong...yes, you can...maybe i'm just a competitive photographer...whatever...

...i know, i know...i've always said that i hate these shots of shooting other people shooting photos or recording video, but it was happening right in front of me and i kinda liked her framing...
