(my) future leaders portrait series...

...it was my job to shoot twenty of the most promising high schoolers in fauquier county this weekend (fourteen were done backtobacktoback on saturday)...to keep myself sane, i shot my own set of portraits...looks like martin parr and christopher morris had a baby on a green backdrop, right...i think these tell more about the kids than a large grin...and they're funny in a way...my landlady didn't seem to think so, i'm pretty sure she only laughed, because i prefaced showing them to her with extreme excitement...here is what we'll actually be running in the paper:

...and so on...i have to say, my series was more of a challenge than the 'real' portraits, because i only allowed myself one shot for each kid while they held up their card instead of shooting until i got something, anything for the paper...oh, i love their handwriting, oh the details...i was thinking about handing these into the editor with a straight face and seeing how long he gave me to clean out my desk...
